Nuclear Survival in
Indiana

This is the nuclear target map for Indiana, but remember, fallout can go anywhere or everywhere (and probably will). After you have looked at this map look at the Information for Indiana that follows it.

Nuclear Weapon Target Map for Indiana (FEMA-196/September 1990)Indiana targets

UPDATE to Target Information!!!

Information for Indiana

It is recommended that you go through the following 10 steps in studying about the nuclear threat to Indiana.

1. Look at the State Map above to see the target nuclear areas in Indiana.

2. Look at the general expected fallout map to see where Indiana
(according to the prevailing wind pattern)
gets fallout from other states.

3. If the state that you live in is anywhere EAST of any of the following 6 states in the prevailing wind pattern then look at the states in RED on the INDEX of STATES for

  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • South Dakota
  • Nebraska
  • Missouri
  • Colorado

  • These six states contain what is called DENSE PACK which I explain on each of those states pages. UNDERSTAND that the wind pattern COULD at that time be something other than the "prevailing" wind pattern.

    4. Bookmark the present URL or make a copy of this present address so that you can come back to it after going to

    Blast Mapper.

This mapper is on someone else's web site so that you will need to save this address in order to return here if your back button doesn't work. However, you want to be sure to go the mapper site and calculate the damage to probable targets (cities) around you.

    5. Memorize the THREE top rules for survival. They are:

  • Number One - Get out of the cities!

  • Number Two - Get out of the cities!

  • Number Three - Get out of the cities!

  • 6. The follow-on rules are:
  • a. Have a shelter
  • b. Work with a group (you are going to need the manpower, brainpower, and skillpower).
  • c. Stock supplies.

    7. My Survival Web Page contains links to lots of other information such as free books to download about nuclear survival, links to plans for building shelters, and even free consultation about building a shelter.

    8. If you are SUPER concerned about nuclear survival you might consider joining the

    Ark Two Community.

    9. If you like, you can look at our Honor List for groups that we know of that have an existing rural location. Most of these, however, have no direct interest or preparation in regards to nuclear survival. At the bottom of this page is a Directory of our contacts in Indiana. Many of the local entries for states were listed because of their Y2K concerns and may not have any nuclear concerns.

    10. And finally, if you wish to be on the mailing list for my irregular newsletter in which I analyze current events in regards to the nuclear threat, you can sign-up here:

I am in the NW area of Indianapolis, by 62nd and Georgetown Rd.

Some of my friends along with my family and in-laws are interested in organizing a Y2K survival group. We have had two meetings and I have been selected as the coordinator.

We have been seriously sharing information about Y2K to people but, we need to learn what we should do first, what type of provisions we should make, etc..

    201. Padanaram

    http://www.kiva.net/~padanarm/
Padanaram started in 1966 with twelve individuals and 86 acres. It has now grown to 200 individuals and 2400 acres of land consisting of lakes, streams, orchards, vinyards, gardens and surrounded by beautiful wooded hills.

The word Padanaram is taken from two Hebrew words- Paddan (to extend) and Aram (to elevate, a citadel, castle, palace). It is a word found in Gen. 28:2. To the inhabitants it means the highest order of peace and righteousness.

The geographical location of the Settlement was found by a man named Daniel Wright, who experienced a spiritual encounter in coming to this particular spot.

In 1977, the Padanaram Sawmill had expanded to the point that it was necessary to move its location closer to the main highways. It was moved forty miles from the Village to Bloomington, Indiana and the business complex now includes Imperial Lumber Company and Good Earth Compost Company. The Sawmill is a technological marvel, and all of the jobs that were once hard grueling work have been replaced by mechanization.

Today Padanaram is a 20th century communitarian modern settlement. In September we will celebrate our thirtieth year. Many original members remain in the community and we are enjoying our second and third generations. To further expand our horizons and fulfill the needs of our youth, we currently have seven young adults in state universities. We continue to work hard as a group to provide a healthy enviroment for all the children and adults.

The lifestyle is familyism--small nuclear families within the larger extended family. Families live in apartment style dwellings within the larger communal buildings. Meals are eaten in the dining room three times daily.

Men and women work within the group as "cooperative equals" in harmony with one another toward a common goal. Each individual is encouraged to expand within their genetical inheritance. They are united toward a goal of building bridges into a better utopian world for those coming behind. The villagers work in such areas as maintenance, gardening, veneer sales, sawmilling, land improvement, bark mulch sales, cooking, sewing, teaching, buying, health care, gardening, and business. In their spare time, many villagers are involved in the creative arts of weaving, woodworking, art work, photography, quilting/sewing/stitchery, jewelry making, and herbal crafts.

For those of us who have endeavored to live cooperatively, it is a viable, workable lifestyle. We know its joys and harmony; we realize the dedication and commitment it takes. It enables us to have a choice and a voice in our daily lives.

We may have cooperative businesses, private schools or home schooling, a common kitchen or cooking arrangements in which everyone helps. Many of us farm and strive for self sufficiency. We care for the earth. We work for the good of our neighbor rather than ourselves alone. Many of us take into our doors those who suffer and need help. Some of us are spiritually based, others secular. Whatever the focus, we have learned that people can live and share together. Communal groups have always existed; an unbroken thread of communities has existed throughout the history of the world. Communal groups in the past made many contributions to our world, and their expertise and wisdom lives on. Communal groups continue to make the world a better place in which to live. It is a return to our roots, our origins. It restores a balance of familyism to humankind.

  • As one would that others do, do unto them.

  • The harvest we reap are the seeds we've sown

  • Hold all things in common count nothing one's own.

  • All the pure rivers flow back to the sea.

  • Distribution to each according to the need.

  • The warmth of the sun is shared by all.

  • Of one who has much, much is required.

  • Footprints in the soil are according to the load.

  • One that won't work,shall not eat.

  • If the hand is not lifted, the mouth is not fed.

Open House has been a beneficial day for us. The first one was held in 1980 with about 300 people attending. Today several thousand come each October. It gives people an opportunity to see into our lifestyle--what we do in a day, our jobs, our school, our kitchens. We take tours and questions from our guests. Via these questions we get an insight into what people think about us. Yes, we are just normal people who eat, sleep, work, play, and worship.

This day has enabled us to build a bridge between our lifestyle and those who visit. Local people now bring their families or relatives from other places to spend the day with us. Newspapers, radio, television reporters visit along with our local sheriff and politicians. People come back yearly. It is a day of friendship well spent.
